Consideration to animal welfare in Research and Development
Toa Eiyo Ltd. has established in-house regulations for animal experiments, in compliance with Japan’s Law for the Humane Treatment and Management of Animals(Law No.105,1973) and “Basic policies for the conduct of animal experiments in research institutions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare” (issued on June 1, 2006) based on the 3Rs*, the scientific and ethical bases of animal testing. All our animal experiments are reviewed beforehand by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
We make regular self-inspection for scientifically and ethically proper conduct of animal experiments and check the consistency of the condition of animal testing and facility operations to in-house regulations as well as relevant laws and these Guidelines for animal experiments.
* 3Rs:Replacement (replacement of medical research using animals with those without animals), Reduction (reduction in the number of animals used in experiments) and Refinement (pain alleviation in experimental animals)
